Human Resources FAQs
Are services provided in a clinic?
Most services are provided in the home and community environments where skills are naturally used and practiced. Depending on the needs of the individual and the service being provided, some clinic-based services may also be available.
What are RBT and BCaBA credentials?
RBT stands for Registered Behavior Technician, and BCaBA stands for Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. These are professional credentials within the field of behavior analysis.
For additional information about these credentials and certification requirements, please visit www.bacb.com .
What is the difference between a Behavior Support Staff member and a Consultant?
Behavior Support Staff, including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs), work directly with individuals and families to implement teaching and behavior support programs.
Consultants, who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), are responsible for assessment, program development, supervision, training, and supporting families and staff in achieving meaningful outcomes for the individuals they serve.
Do I need experience in ABA to apply?
Not necessarily. Some positions, such as Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Behavior Support Staff roles, may not require previous experience in Applied Behavior Analysis. Training is provided for qualified candidates.
Positions requiring professional certification, such as Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), require education, training, and experience consistent with certification and licensure requirements.
Do you provide supervision for BCBA or BCaBA fieldwork hours?
Yes. Breakthrough Developmental Services provides supervision opportunities that may meet fieldwork requirements established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO), and the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA Board). Opportunities may vary based on position, supervisor availability, and organizational needs.
Are positions part-time or full-time?
Most positions are part-time unless otherwise noted in the job announcement.
As part of our commitment to supporting current employees, we first seek to expand the schedules of existing staff members before creating additional positions whenever possible.
Do you reimburse mileage?
Yes. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements, including guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Can I choose the geographic area where I work?
Whenever possible, staff members are assigned to work within approximately 20 miles of either their home or the Breakthrough Developmental Services office. Service needs, staff availability, and geographic considerations are all taken into account when making assignments.
